There is a unique and very exciting way to cruise the Lagoons of Marano and Grado and visit Aquileia by choosing our itinerary: “Sea&Taste: Lagoon History”.

The Battello Santa Maria will transform into a time machine and take you back to relive the majesty of the Roman era, sailing in the Lagoons of Marano and Grado and going up the Natissa River to Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before returning you will experience a veritable feast for the palate at the chocolate factory, a company part of the FVG Strada del Vino e dei Sapori. There will also be a special chocolate workshop dedicated to children and their families… don’t miss out!

The cruise will take place every Thursday from July to September.


9.00 am departure by boat from Lignano Sabbiadoro.

11.00 am guided tour of Aquileia, one of the largest and most wealthy cities of the Early Roman Empire. There are many breathtaking remains of that period like the ruins of the Forum Romanum or the famous mosaic floor of the Basilica (4th century A.D). by virtue of the fact that most of ancient Aquileia survives intact and unexcavated, it is the most complete example of an Early Roman city in the Mediterranean world. The Patriarchal Basilican complex in Aquileia played a decisive role in the spread of Christianity into central Europe in the early Middle Ages.

11.15 am – 12.45 pm guided citytour

12.45 chocolate tasting at the factory “al Cocambo”

2.00 pm. Departure from Aquileia. Optional lunch on board (not included in the price*).

Return by boat to Lignano Sabbiadoro with arrival at 4.30 pm.
